OPENING CALLS FOR FRIDAY JANUARY 27,  2012:

Steady/Higher:

The grains were mixed in the overnights with corn showing
the most strength. Exports remain strong with South Korea purchasing 110,000 mt
of US corn and Japan purchasing 53,000 mt of US milling wheat. Additional
sanctions have been enacted against Iran as EU banks announced yesterday that
they will no longer finance grain shipments destined for Iran. This poses a
significant problem for them because while they may have tremendous supplies of
oil, their grain supplies are minimal. It will be interesting to see if this
action brings them to the negotiating table. The Federal Reserve's announcement
that it intends to keep interest rates extremely low through 2014 continues to
weigh on the US dollar. A report showing US GDP grew at 2.8% in the 4th
quarter was welcome but missed expectations of 3% growth. The US dollar is
weaker this morning and the DJIA is down 39 points at the time of this writing.

Policy Changes

Market Mania!     Due to the recent and on-going volatility of the grain markets, the resulting potential risks to our customers, and the capital-consuming margin calls, Dakota Plains has implemented a few changes with regards to grain contracts.

* We will apply deliveries to contracts first, starting with the oldest.  If you would like to cash a load at the scale, you may create a new contract, assuming you have the bushels to cover all of your obligations.

* Contract balances will be cleaned up at the end of each delivery period or before settlement is made.

* Grain contracts cannot be rolled from one crop year to the next crop year. However contracts can be rolled once within that crop year with management approval. Fees will apply.

NO CASH BIDS

* IF MARKETS ARE LOCKED "LIMIT DOWN" ON A COMMODITIY
WE WILL HAVE NO CASH BIDS ON THAT COMMODITY UNTIL THEY START TRADING "BETTER",
YOU MAY DO A BASIS CONTRACT OR PUT IN AN OPEN ORDER
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE GIVE US A CALL!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION *
